2010 World Cup Opening Ceremony

The much anticipated 2010 World Cup football hosted by South Africa will open tomorrow June 10th with a celebration concert (2.00pm Barbados time).

The event will  feature well known acts  Shakira, John Legend, Angelique Kidjo, Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas and South African artists and performers. The event will take place at the newly-renovated Orlando Stadium in Soweto/Johannesburg.

The official kickoff will begin the next day June 11th between host nation South Africa and Mexico schedule for 10.00am Barbados time and Uruguay v France  2.30pm Barbados time according to FIFA‘s website.

The 19th FIFA World Cup, first time held on the African continent, will run from June 11th – July 11th, featuring 32 football teams playing in 9 cities across South Africa. Brazil, Spain and England are among favourites to win this year’s cup.

Group C – England, United states, Algeria, Slovenia

Group D – Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana

Group H – Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile
