Nigeria Cuba Criticizes Unfair US Air Screening Rules

Nigeria and Cuba have complained about being singled out for enhanced security measures by the United States following the attempt by a Nigerian man to blow up an airliner over Detroit on Christmas Day.

They are on a list of fourteen countries – which include Somalia and Yemen – where US bound passengers will be subjected to extra searches.

Nigeria said it was unfair that all Nigerians should be affected because of the actions of one man. Cuban state media accused the United States of anti-terrorist paranoia.

Flights from Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria (countries classified by US as state sponsors of terror) also flights from Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen are where the new measures apply.
