PM David Thompson Meets Chinese Delegation

A delegation of Chinese officials met yesterday with Prime Minister David Thompson and other local businessmen at his official residence Ilaro Court.

The group from Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) discussed potential investment projects in Barbados and attended a reception that attracted several prominent local business leaders, public officials, and members of Cabinet.

During their trip to Barbados members of the delegation have also learned about the island’s tourism product. The Aviation Industry Corporation of China is one of the largest state-owned entities in China, and invests heavily throughout Asia and beyond.

The delegation consisted of sixteen officials from the corporation, who were in Barbados for approximately a week and are scheduled to leave the island on Monday.
