Pastor Confesses Porn Addiction

Pastor David Erik Jones remembers the morning he decided to reveal his pornography addiction to his church congregation at First Baptist Church in Jayton, Texas.  He knew there was a very good chance he would lose his job that day. But he also knew that his admission might bring others to face their own problems.  Either way, he was determined to tell the truth about his life.

His congregation not only supported him, but encouraged him to continue to tell his story.  His new book entitled, My Struggle, Your Struggle: Breaking Free from Habitual Sin, details the beginnings of his battle with pornography that would find root in his childhood and follow him into marriage.

”I felt that some of the members might not respect me or want me to continue as their pastor,” says Jones, “but I was willing to take that risk.  I talked about it with my family and they supported me all the way. I did believe there was a possibility that I could be asked to leave.  But I knew it was worth the risk, and I trusted God to take care of us either way.” Read more of this post

How Widespread Is Teacher/Student Relationships Here In Barbados?

From what we can ascertain from the Nation’s confusing article concerning a high school teacher, Janmattie Singh of Caribbean heritage [ her surname would suggest Trinidadian or Guyanese] is charged with raping 3 boys. It would seems that the teacher rape 2-18 years and a 15 year old, all cousins.

This is after calling up one 18 year for sex who in turn told her he was with his other cousins and could not oblige her. Nevertheless the teacher came over and decided to have sex with all 3 of them.

My first reaction was “Is she mad”?. Read more of this post

How To Catch A Sex Offender

Family Watch Dog is a free service run by volunteers to assist persons in locating registered sex offenders in their neighbourhoods.

So I decided to put in a search for the Brooklyn New York area, since I have relatives out there and out pops a zillion- looking little squares in front of me. Click on any of those squares and sure enough a sex offender’s picture appear before your eyes.

Name, alias, convictions, even victim’s age and how far [ or near] the person is in relation to where the intended victim[s] resides now. To be more precise, enter a street name. Brooklyn alone have 655 sex offenders and Queens – 1478. Wow.

The service is available in the US only but many of us here in Bim have relatives living in the States and some of those relatives have children so this info is a good resource to pass on to them and be alert of who is living in their communities and to protect their children – the most precious things on earth.

Hey did not the international press reported on the low enrollment in the US army that the army have decided to recruit criminals and SEX OFFENDERS into their ranks. Who is going to be on them 24/7 to keep them away from foreign children?.

Schoolgirls in Hospital After ‘Mass Hysteria’ Outbreak

More than 50 schoolgirls were taken to hospital after they succumbed to what education chiefs in Senegal are calling “collective hysteria” – fainting and screaming.

The girls’ bizarre behaviour caused firefighters to shut down the secondary school where the incident occurred yesterday.

All of the 53 girls, as well as two boys, who experienced the unexplained fit were evacuated to the capital’s main hospital.

“The phenomenon started in one of the classrooms of the 5th standard girls,” said Adina Aidara, the principal of the Lamine Gueye Secondary School in Dakar where the strange event occurred.

“Three students, all girls, fell down. The same phenomenon was repeated 30 minutes later during recess – this time involving high schoolers. We called the fire department to evacuate the victims.”

The incident began at 9am. By 1pm, the school had sent 55 students to the hospital in ambulances, all but two of whom were girls, he said.

“It’s an event that is completely out of the ordinary,” said Mr Aidara.

Colonel Diene Faye of the local fire brigade said the scale of the phenomenon prompted officials to close down and isolate the high school.

At the city’s central hospital, anguished parents fussed over their daughters. Several allowed their girls to be interviewed only on condition that their name not be published.

A 15-year-old girl in the hospital ward, who spoke with her mother that her side, said that she was in the middle of chatting with a friend. “Suddenly I had a horrible headache. It hurt so much that I started screaming. And then I fainted. From that moment on, I no longer knew where I was,” she said.

Another teenage girl, also interviewed alongside her family, said: “I don’t know what happened. I suddenly felt like my forehead was sweating. I felt my body vibrating. I cried out loudly. It was as if there was a power greater than myself that was inside my body. I don’t know what happened after that.”

Senegal’s minister of education Moustapha Sourang visited the school yesterday and ordered that classes be suspended for 48 hours while the ministry investigated.

Immediately after the incident, Dakar was abuzz with rumours of evil spirits and of supernatural retaliation. Some say the girls were being punished for having dressed immodestly.

But Dr Ababacar Wilane, chief of psychiatry at the hospital, tried to put the stories of demons and spells to rest, saying: “The most vulnerable among them were probably caught up in the moment and succumbed to a kind of domino effect,” when they saw the others fainting and screaming.

It is not the first incidence of mass hysteria in Senegal.

On Monday, a local newspaper reported that in the town of Podor in northern Senegal, 16 girls had fainted simultaneously.

“Sixteen girls fell into a collective hysteria. Some people believe they were possessed by an invisible force. The victims screamed and rolled on the ground,” wrote the daily newspaper, ‘Le Matin’.

National HIV/AIDS Commission – Forget The Parents, Give Us The Law Instead!!!

A previous article headlined ’16 and up’ of the Friday edition of the Nation newspaper [4th] caught my attention not so much the title but the contents that follow.

According to the story, the National HIV/AIDS Commission is ”seeking the support of Minister of Family, Youth ,Sport and the Environment Dr Esther Byer Suckoo in bringing to Cabinet proposals to eliminate the current anomaly between the age of consent [16 years old] and the age at which young people can seek medical services [18] on their own without parental consent.”

Is Pastor Sandra Holford [Deputy Chairman] in agreement with this? Would she like a law that says a 16 year old can seek medical services without her consent? Now that Dr Jacobs has been reappointed as Chairman, how will the secular and spiritual views square up with each other in tacking this HIV/AIDS situation in Barbados among the youth?.

I ask the question. What is so wrong that the Commission cannot launch an awareness program to sensitize and educate parents on the need to gave their 16 year olds permission to seek medical advice and get counselling when warranted in such cases? Why rush headlong to strip parents of their paternal rights?. What is the reason or reasons parents do not give their support when their 16 year olds want to be tested and seek medical advice.

I search and in my searching unfortunately those questions were not asked or answered.

Director Alies Jordan added, ”we will be asking for that amendments to be made to the existing legislation along with other types of amendments or drafting of new legislation that will create the right type of enabling environment which will allow our HIV prevention efforts to be successful.”

What other amendments?. What new legislation?. Again the newspaper fails to ask such a question. Does these other types of amendments includes having 15 & 16 yrs olds abort babies without their parent knowledge and approval?.

The Commission has done a poor job in curbing the promiscuity of young people and seeking Ministerial support to eliminate the anomaly that exists as you rightly say would only ”put a dent in the spread of the deadly virus.”

We don’t need a dent. We need an Impact!.
