Cable & Wireless Barbados (C&WB) has posted a net profit for its fiscal year ended March 2008 of USD91.7 million, an increase of 14% over last year, with results driven by year-on-year increases in mobile and broadband customer bases of 8% and 43% respectively.
C&WB spent over USD50 million in CAPEX in FY2007/08 to upgrade and expand its GSM network, pre-paid platforms and metro Ethernet network. According to a press release, more than USD10 million was invested in a Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN) project which upped the telco’s capacity for fixed line and broadband services in ‘several large catchments areas, benefiting over 18,000 customers to date.’
